Reiki has many qualities that makes it ideal for animals. In general, they are much more sensitive to the energy than humans, and of course, have no preconceptions as we so often do.

Animals will experience the same benefits of a Reiki treatment, the balancing and calming of the mind and body.

In many cases the first encounter of the energy can be greeted with hesitancy – it is strange to them, but they quickly recognise it, adapt, and settle down to accept and enjoy it. Animals that have experienced unpleasant upbringings, or have not been treated with respect and love by humans in the past, can understandably, be very wary. This isn’t a problem; the treatment is adapted to suit their needs.

The session normally takes 1 hour. Animals suffering with deep rooted emotional or physical problems may require longer, some may only be able to tolerate short treatments. And in general, smaller animals often require less time.

In the case of animals, I prefer to travel to their home as most become stressed in strange surroundings. They do not need to be restrained or confined. Somewhere that is familiar to them, quiet, and where they can be safe and move around freely is ideal. Trust and acceptance is just as important to animals as it is to us. Each animal is given the choice of being treated, and is dealt with the same respect and sensitivity that you would expect yourself.

*Reiki is a complementary healing technique and is not a substitute for standard medical or veterinarian treatments. If you, or your pet, have any health concerns, please consult the appropriate professional.

NB. By law, veterinary permission must always be obtained before Reiki is given to animals, for reasons other than well being.
